Bobo's on 9th is pleased to present an exhibition of recent work by Colt Hausman. A multi-media artist, Colt has worked with sculpture, interactive paintings, glass blowing, animation, drawing, painting and printmaking. His most recent work can be broken down into two distinctly different styles: prints that show a high level of craftsmanship and control, and drawings that give us a chance to see some of the strange and chaotic thoughts that run through his head.

Repeating patterns and gradients give Colt's recent prints a futuristic and digital feel. However, the processes used to create them, like monoprinting and embossing, are traditional methods of printmaking. Colt's intricate process shows how things created by hand can still mimic and surpass what can be created digitally.

Colt's drawings, on the other hand, are wild and intuitive. Colt does not seem concerned with developing a specific style of drawing. Although there are reoccurring themes like Kmart logos, sports and things that are weird or gross, Colt's drawings do not feel like they belong to a series. The one thing that ties his drawings together is that all of the ideas and imagery contained in them have been filtered through Colt's unique brain. Instead of coming up with a recognizable style of drawing, Colt has come up with his own frenzied way of thinking.
